by Staff Writers Taipei (AFP) June 22, 2008 A typhoon which left at least 155 people dead in the Philippines and caused a ferry carrying 800 to sink may hit Taiwan, the Central Weather Bureau here warned Sunday.
Typhoon Fengshen lost its steam after lashing the central Philippines Saturday but could still cause problems in Taiwan, a forecaster said, saying it would likely bring strong storms and heavy rain. "Its power was reduced... enabling it to become from a typhoon to a storm," Wu Teh-jung, an official of the bureau, told reporters. "We do not rule out issuing a storm alert Monday," he said.
