HONG KONG, Oct 31 (Reuters) - A disease transmitted by sandflies which
causes swelling of the liver and spleen and can lead to death if
untreated has become more prevalent in war-torn Somalia, researchers found.

PIEDRA BLANCA, Dominican Republic (AP) - Tropical Storm Noel triggered
mudslides and floods in the Dominican Republic and Haiti, pushing the
death toll to 81 on Wednesday and forcing some parents to choose which
of their children to save from the surging waters.
