INDIANAPOLIS - Wicked weekend storms pounded the country from the
Midwest to the East Coast, forcing hundreds of people to flee flooded
communities, spawning tornadoes that tore up houses and killing at least
eight people.

car windshields, telephone poles, and in bus shelters. "Beware," it
read, "these are the members of the Jewish Missionary Cult. They are
baptizing Jews into Christianity." Included was a photo of Pastor David
Ortiz and his address.

Big Quakes Cause Temblors Worldwide Print E-mail

The magnitude 9 Sumatra-Andaman Islands quake near Indonesia in 2004
generated a catastrophic tsunami that washed out villages and was
responsible for many of the quake's 227,898 deaths in 11 countries that
share a coastline with the Indian Ocean.

Scientists have agreed that strong earthquakes produce aftershocks
within the region, but many did not believe that temblors of magnitude 7
and above could trigger smaller quakes on the other side of the world -
until now.

Mag 7 Ice Quakes: Something's shaking in Antarctica Print E-mail

Scientists have discovered massive, slow-motion "ice quakes" trembling twice a day through the West Antarctic Ice Sheet, an Alaska-sized swath of Antarctica. Detective work has traced the source of the shaking to the Whillans Ice Stream, a glacier 100 kilometers across and 1 kilometer thick, which flows from the ice sheet's interior.
